Deadly punishment of a
Rohingya boy by a neighbouring Rakhine Buddhist
Here a video is shown, the story happened yesterday morning.

In Borgwa village which is close to Thet Shon Rakhine village, an unidentified
Rohingya boy was deadly punished and sent to jail by a Rakhine man named Kyaw
Oo, 39, whose father name is Hla Tun Pyu, calling him as to work as to work for
a while near a coconut tree before punishment . He is lying that the victim
fall down from top of the tree. In an attempt to prove him innocent, Kyaw Oo
took Thet Shon village administrator named Aung Wa Sin and no no. 16 Luntin
battalion captain , Captain Than Shwe along with him. But eye witnesses say
that the victim was arbitrarily punished . Right now the victim is at Sittwe
General Hospital but current situation of the victim is unclear for the
hospital is worse than prison for Rohingya Muslims and there is no
communication facility including mobile phones.
"Postponement of Village Administrator
Election"
     On Friday, 15 January, 2016, in
the village of Burachidda Fara, North of Maung Daw, an election was held by the
respective authorities from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to elect the village
administrator . Village elders, Amir Hakim and Shuna  Miya ran for the post . Although Amir Hakim
was was supposed to win the majority votes, the authorities had not announced
the election result, saying they will do so after three days. Likewise, that
the election process is going on in the other villages too is known to us.
"Aung San Suu Kyi's Meeting with the
Ethnic Minority Leaders"
     On Friday, 5 January, 2016,
Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi held a meeting with the leaders of
the armed ethnic minorities with the intention of stopping the civil war, which
has long been going on in their regions over the past decades, and making long
time ceasefire agreement with them.
   It's known that a ceasefire
agreement will be signed in the 5 days conference. Aung San Suu Kyi affirms
that their demands should be accepted and is always ready for the leadership of
a long time ceasefire agreement .

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  A Rohingya fisherman was shot dead by Burmese Border Guard Police (BGP) on Januar10, at around 9:30 pm, while he was fishing at Naff River with along other fishermen, a local fisherman Korim said.

The deceased was identified as— Mohammed Roffique (19), son of Sayed Alam, hailed from Shweza village of Maungdaw Township, the fisherman more added.

Some fishermen went to fishing to the Naff River after getting permission from BGP personnel and some are not, a fisherman said on condition of anonymity.

Rafique accompanied by other fishermen of Shweza village went to the Naff River for catching fish by a row boat on January 10, at night. A patrol boat of BGP personnel of Shweza out post camp saw the fishing boat and called them to stop the fishing, but the fishermen were trying to flee, so, the BGP fired on the fishermen where Rafique was dead on the spot and the other fishermen managed to escape by jumping into the River, said Hamid, a local elder quoting the fleeing fishermen.

On January 11, in the morning, a floating dead body in the Naff River was seen by some villagers and then informed to the BGP out-post of Shweza village.  Being informed, a team of BGP personnel went to the spot and recovered the body. Afterwards, the body was sent to Maungdaw general hospital for autopsy, Nahid, a villager from the locality said.

However, the body was handed over to the relatives after autopsy and buried the body in the village cemetery on January11, in the evening, Nahid more said.
